Professional Experience
Assistant Property Master, 2008
"The 2 Bobs", Austin, Texas
I examined the script to determine what objects were needed as props. Once that list was assembled, I began creating and acquiring the props. This involved designing graphics for logos, CD and DVD covers, business cards, and other assorted scene elements; shopping for objects that could be found in stores; fabricating from scratch anything that could not be found. Part of this process included organizing the props and maintaining them in a camera-ready state. During shooting, my responsibilities included documenting each scene for continuity purposes and managing the props such that the correct items were available and in place for the scene being shot. Finally, I consulted with the Director to coordinate the creation of graphics with offsite artists. This also involved creating graphics on-set when last minute changes were required.
Database Engineer, August 2004 - December 2007
Silvercom Inc, Atlanta, Georgia
As a consultant for the telecommunication industry, I interfaced with clients to gather details for new projects and upgrades. This involved collaborating with other engineers on the technical specifications and specific requirements of the network. Once the information was collected, I organized and formatted it for entry into the client-specific databases. When the work was scheduled, I worked with on-site technicians to add the information as server hardware was added and removed. These projects had strict deadlines and required coordination of engineers and subcontractors. As engineers introduced new technology, I learned new methods and adapted to the requirements of new equipment. When put in charge of a year-long project, it was my responsibility to train colleagues on the technology and coordinate work schedules. I was also regularly contacted to consult when clients needed information and to troubleshoot problems. Finally, I performed additional research to update and streamline project methods and to define changes in procedure.
Creative Director, April 1998 - August 2007
Handmade Games, Atlanta, Georgia
As Creative Director for a small entertainment company, I helped create interactive-story events for convention goers that were regularly attended by over 100 people per event. Each event required the creation of new graphics, visuals, and artwork. This included logos, flyers, pictures, and assorted props of varying complexity. These items were designed for durability and functionality and use by a variety of participants. While on-site, I was responsible for maintaining reference materials for the customers to better facilitate their enjoyment of the event. As a part of this, I was accessible to answer questions, sell participation, and mediate problems from the customers. I managed a staff of four to ten, and coordinated scheduling to maximize customer and volunteer enjoyment.
3D Computer Artist, September 2001 - March 2002
Digital Production Services, Savannah, Georgia
As a freelance artist, I consulted with the director and the client to determine what graphics were wanted. With a tight deadline, I created two 30 second commercial spots. These commercials were aired locally, one of which won a Silver Addy award. In creating these spots, I was required to work on an unfamiliar in-house system. I successfully adapted my knowledge of 3d modeling and animation to the new software and completed all the work on time.
